Frequently asked questions

Do I need to supply Scrubby Doo with electricity and water?
NO!  We are equipped with a 50 gallon tank of clean water that is filled daily, and a 50 gallon tank for the dirty bath water.  Our ONAN generator provides
all the electricity we need.  Our van is equipped with a water heater to provide a nice, warm soothing bath for your doggie.

How does this work?
First you call 847-544-8120 to set up an appointment.  Our groomer arrives at your home or business in the Grooming Salon on Wheels to groom you doggie in
the driveway or along the curb.  After meeting your doggie, either you or the groomer brings the pet to the Mobile Salon.  At this point we proceed with
the groom and ring your bell ( or bring them back to the office ) when your friend is clean and groomed.

How much time does this take?
Generally a groom takes between 1 and 1 1/2 hrs.  The time required can vary based on size, condition of coat, temperament of pet, age, special needs pets.
We also allow time to meet the pet on first visit  so they along with the owner feel safe and confident.  We allow generous appointment times so we are not
rushing out the door before your pet is complete.  This is a calm, relaxing spa environment meant to be a pleasant experience for both the pet and the
         owner.

Is it necessary to book an appointment? If so, how far in advance?
Just like any mobile service, Plumber, Electrician etc., we need to schedule an appointment in advance.  If you want a certain day or time booking in advance
increases your chance of getting the exact time and day you want.  If you have a last minute need, we try and accommodate these appointments as well.  We
have a very flexible schedule to work with your schedule.

Can I inspect the van and stay with my pet during grooming?
You are welcome to inspect the van from the doorway only.  Our insurance carrier prohibits anyone from being inside the groom area other than the
groomer.  If you feel it necessary to remain with your pet during the groom time, you may sit in the passenger seat of the van; there's a door that opens
to the groom area.  Often times this is distracting to the pet but we understand and will accommodate your request.

Why is mobile grooming more expensive than a grooming salon or box pet store?
First, we believe in Quality over Quantity.  Mobile grooming is a specialized service that offers convenience: at your doorstep service and one on one
attention to your doggie from start to finish.  Many salons have a high turnaround of employees and rely on  a high volume of dogs in order to meet their
        monetary obligations.

Why is a shave down sometimes more expensive than a regular haircut?
In many cases your pet is matted, has an extremely thick coat, is excessively dirty or has other conditions which makes shaving not only more difficult than a
normal cut, but usually necessary.  Great care and extra time is spent in an effort to shave the coat properly while trying to prevent discomfort for your
pet.  Our additional fee for this is between $10 and $20 based on the size of the pet.

Do you groom cats?
I'm sorry but we specialize in dogs only. We offer a link to a cat groomer under our "Links" header.

Do you come out and trim nails only?
Currently we only provide a full grooming service.  If we are at your home and you have a second pet that requires a nail trim we are happy to provide the
        service.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, Master Card, Visa, Amex and Discover, Zelle
